A Bird Walk is set for 8-10 a.m. at Chippewa Nature Center. Spring migration is underway with new birds arriving every day. CNC’s variety of habitats support over 200 bird species making this an excellent wildlife hotspot. Learn to identify birds by using field marks, listening for songs and calls, watching flight patterns and using habitat clues. Birders of all experience levels are welcome. A History Mystery is set for 2-3 p.m. at Chippewa Nature Center. What do a robin, a Petoskey stone and an apple blossom have in common? The Frankenmuth Dog Bowl is set for Saturday and Sunday at Frankenmuth River Place Shops. The world’s largest Olympic-style festival for dogs returns with dock and disc dog competitions, sheep herding demonstrations, hot air balloon glows and flights, wiener dog races, a pet costume parade and more. A Native Plant Sale is set for 1-6 p.m. at Chippewa Nature Center. Michigan-native wildflowers, trees, shrubs, ferns and vines will be available. Friday's sale is for CNC members only. The sale will open to the public 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 4 and 1-4 p.m. June 5. New members who join by June 5 will receive a free 2-inch potted plant or $3 towards their purchase at the sale. The touring production of "Anastasia" is set to perform at 7:30 p.m. at Midland Center for the Arts. This dazzling show transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. The Michigan Antique Festival is set for 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Midland County Fairgrounds. This event features over 80 acres packed with some of the best selection of vintage and unique finds. Admission is $10, free for kids ages 12 and under. The festival will continue 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 5.
The Summer Art Fair is set for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in Downtown Midland. Held outdoors rain or shine, the Summer Art Fair has promoted the celebration of the fine arts and crafts while providing the engagement of the entire community. Free admission, free parking, artists booths, fabulous food, live music by local musicians, the Resonators, activities for the kids, Museum School faculty demonstrations — a fun, fabulous weekend! The Summer Art Fair will continue 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, June 5.
The second annual Art Seen Festival is set for 11 a.m.-9 p.m. in Downtown Midland. Artists and community members will have the chance to paint two murals, one at the rear parking lot wall of Little Forks Outfitters and a second at Ace Hardware. There will also be acoustic performances by a variety of local musicians on Saturday and Sunday evenings, presented by The Blue Light Music Venue. The Dows in Their Own Words is set for 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Dow Gardens. Join us in the 1899 Pines Home, as we read excerpts from family letters and shine a spotlight on life, for the Dow family, at the turn of the century. Participants will progress through this national historic landmark with readings along the way. The topic will be "Dow Love Stories." Cost is $5, plus admission. Registration is recommended. Masks are required for Pines programming.
Yoga and Kayaking is set for 12-2 p.m. at the Tridge. Participants will head out on the water in the kayaks upstream along the Tittabawasee River and then return downstream for a more leisurely float back to the Tridge, where they'll end with yoga overlooking the Tridge to stretch out and wind down from the journey. Tickets include 45-60 minutes of paddling, 45-60 minutes of yoga, and plenty of time to enjoy our beautiful Michigan landscape and summer sunshine. Cost is $40 including all equipment. The Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival is set for June 9-12 in Downtown Frankenmuth. The event will feature polka bands and live entertainment, fireworks, a parade and many more events. General admission is $10, free for kids ages 12 and under.

Chemical City Derby Girls' first annual Summer SMACKdown Spectacular is set for 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at Midland Roll Arena. This all- day roller derby event includes a triple header of roller derby scrimmages. When not watching the action, make sure to walk around and shop the many vendor booths and Pro Shop for all of your roller skating and fun life needs. Tickets are $15 per person if purchasing on Eventbrite (plus fees) or $20 per person at the Midland Roll Arena door.

Sanford Civil War Veterans Cemetery Walk is set for 1-4:40 p.m. at Jerome Township Cemetery. Come along on a guided walk through cemetery just north of Midland in Sanford. Listen to stories from Sanford’s own Civil War veterans (portrayed by local actors). Hear of the war and life after when they came to settle and make their way in early Midland County. Tickets are $8 for the public, $5 for Alden B. Dow Museum members.
Sangeetayan Institute of Dance & Music of India of Midland will present its annual program at 2 p.m. at Grace Dow Library Auditorium, 1710 W. St. Andrews Road in Midland. The program will feature Indian dance and music items by students of Sangeeta Kar. This event is free.
Airport Story Hour is set for 1-2 p.m. at Jack Barstow Municipal Airport. Children ages 2-5 are invited to enjoy a light snack while listening to an aviation/space related story at this free event. Warm weather readings will be held in the beautiful outdoor MCADA area near the terminal. Cold weather readings will be held in the terminal building. If held inside current CDC recommendations will be followed.
Sound Community Music Series is set for 7-9 p.m. at Live Oak Coffeehouse. This live music series features classical and jazz musicians from the mid-Michigan area.The first hour of each event is an opportunity for students, amateurs, and professionals to share musical performances. The second hour spotlights professional musicians as they perform a full-length concert. The featured artists of the evening gratefully accept financial support from the audience in the form of donations.
Disney's High School Musical is set to perform at 8 p.m. at the Midland Center for the Arts' outdoor stage. When the captain of the basketball team meets the new brainy transfer student, the pair instantly connect and discover their passion for singing. After they get cast together in their school musical, the pair sets off a chain of events that upsets the "Status Quo" and puts all of East High into a musical frenzy. Local high school students will join Broadway veterans in the cast. Other performances are set for 8 p.m. June 24 and 25. She joined the Daily News as its newsroom clerk, and eventually began editing obituaries, and in 2016 wrote her first article.
