Adani Group is now flexing its arms in the clean green energy industry. The company is set to build 3 giga factories in India. The world’s third richest billionaire Gautam Adani has been very vocal about clean energy for a while now. This comes on the heels of the company's expansion and acquisition of firms into green energy

Gautam Adani recently received the USIBC 2022 Global Leadership Award where he spoke of clean green energy.

We are pleased to announce that @Gautam_Adani has been honoured with the @USIBC 2022 Global Leadership Award. While receiving the award he spoke on the US-India business relationships and how it paves the way for a 'fast-evolving and emerging global dynamics'. pic.twitter.com/OwI5Kb4hma

Speaking at the US India Business Council Global Leadership Award, the maverick industrialist said that these giga factories will focus on technologies like solar modules, poly silicons, manufacturing of solar turbines and hydrogen polyesters. The endeavor is a part of $70 billion investment in clean energy by 2030 becoming the numero uno in renewable energy production.

Adani said that these giga factories would generate 45 GW of renewable energy. This will add on to the group’s existing 20 GW capacity. By 2030, the group will generate 3 million tons of Hydrogen. Meanwhile Adani’s bete noire Ambani have already announced their 5th giga factory. Last year, the Ambanis had announced plans to set up 4 giga factories with an investment of Rs 75,000 crores in Jamnagar (Gujarat). These 4 giga factories are -

1) Integrated Solar Photovoltaic Module Factory for solar energy production, 2) Advanced Energy Storage Battery Factory for intermittent energy storage, 3) Electrolyser Factory for Green Hydrogen production and 4) Fuel Cell Factory for conversion of Hydrogen into mobile and stationary power. The 5th gigafactory will be for power electronics.

With Adani and Ambani both gunning for clean green energy, hopefully it should only pave way for more innovation and cheaper production in the market. Small startups and businesses, however innovative, can’t scale and deliver. Only time will tell if capitalism will make it better or worse for the environment.
